On February 15, the US Department of Commerce announced an anti-dumping investigation against imports of paper plates from China, Thailand and Vietnam, as well as a countervailing investigation against imports of paper plates from China and Vietnam. This case involves the products under the US Customs code 4823.69.0040. The U. S. International Trade Commission (ITC) is expected to make a preliminary industry damage ruling as late as March 11,2024.
If the US International Trade Commission determines that the import of the products involved constitute material injury or threat of harm to the domestic industry, the US Department of Commerce will continue its investigation into the case and expects to make a preliminary countervailing ruling on April 19,2024 and a preliminary anti-dumping ruling on July 3,2024.
According to US statistics, in the United States in 2023, the imports from the countries involved in the case are about $140 million from China, $4.95 million from Thailand and $9 million for Vietnam.
