08 EU Tighten Import and Export of Waste Plastics
From January 1,2021, the EU will implement new regulations on the import and export of waste plastics and the internal shipment of the EU.
These new provisions prohibit the export of waste plastics from the EU to non-OECD countries, except for clean waste plastics that can be recycled. The importing country must inform the European Commission of the rules applicable to such imports. Exports from the EU are allowed only under conditions specified by the importing country. For countries that do not provide information on the relevant legal system, the "prior notice and consent procedure ". The EU's import and export of hazardous and difficult-to-recover waste plastics to OECD countries will follow the "prior notice and consent procedure ". Under this procedure, both importing and exporting countries must authorize shipments. 09 U.S. Extension of Duty Exclusion Period for Vaccination Materials

10. Entry into force of the United States STOP Act

11 Russian compulsory sticker

From the beginning of 2021, the compulsory electronic labeling system will be extended to light industrial products and dairy products. For dairy products, milk and cream, ice cream, etc. with a shelf life of more than 28 days will be subject to mandatory labeling from January 20,2021; milk and cream, condensed milk, milk pulp, butter, cheese, milk residue, milk-containing drinks with a shelf life of less than 28 days will be subject to mandatory labeling from July 1,2021; yogurt, fermented dairy products, etc., will be subject to mandatory labeling from October 1,2021; and farmers who retail self-produced dairy products delay to October 1,2022.
12 Import of medical masks from Myanmar subject to FDA approval
A notification was sent by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) of the Ministry of Health and Sports to the Association of Pharmaceutical Enterprises on 24 December, as follows:
Prior to the FDA, medical masks (including N95 and KN95) to prevent the outbreak of new coronary pneumonia were placed on the list of epidemic prevention materials that did not require import approval. Medical masks, including N95 and KN95, have been included in medical supplies requiring FDA import approval in order to make them more safe and quality-compliant for use by the population and health care personnel.
13 Africa Mainland Free Trade Zone launched
On January 1,2021, the world's largest free trade zone —— the African Mainland Free Trade Zone (AfCFTA) will be officially launched. Aimed at further lowering tariffs, eliminating trade barriers and promoting intraregional trade and investment development, it has created a single large market with a combined membership GDP of $2.5 billion, covering 1.2 billion people.
At present, the first stage of AfCFTA negotiations has been basically completed. The second phase of the negotiations on the agreements on investment, competition policy and intellectual property was nearing completion. AfCFTA rules of origin negotiations have not yet been completed.
