Shi: Chinese enterprises with mature rail transit technology, high cost performance, are gradually becoming international. And with the promotion of intelligence,Chinese enterprises will also provide the world with more high-quality EU limited Russian and white agricultural products
The European Commission plans to impose tariffs on the grains, rapeseed and its derivatives on March 21. Von der Leyen said the move were to prevent Russian grains from "disrupting" the EU market, prevent the use of income from agricultural exports to Europe and ensure that Russian "illegal exports" and "grain from Ukraine" will not enter the EU market.
On March 22, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said that the EU's restriction on agricultural imports from Russia and Belarus is an unfair competition. Mr Peskov said European consumers would suffer because of the EU measure. Meanwhile, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Maria Zakharova criticized the EU for only aggravating the "world food woes".
But there are differences within the EU over imposing additional tariffs. Belgian Prime Minister Alexander de Crowe said that the EU should impose tariffs on Russian grains while also considering the interests of global consumers. Earlier, the European Union imposed economic sanctions on Russia during the Ukraine crisis, which also led to soaring energy prices in many parts of Europe, high inflation and corporate losses.
Shi: imposing tariffs on agricultural products may lead to higher food prices in Europe and increase the cost of living for consumers. This could trigger a further escalation in inflationary pressures in Europe.
