Creek Cleanup: The Friends of the Wissahickon is seeking volunteers to help keep Wissahickon Valley Park clean and beautiful. Extra hands are needed to remove fallen branches and other tree debris, clear trash and recycling and conduct trail work and planting during upcoming FOW Volunteer Service Days. No experience is necessary. FOW will provide the instruction, tools and gloves. The annual Creek Cleanup will take place April 27 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Join FOW and partners at the Wissahickon Valley Watershed Association to help clean the Wissahickon Creek in the northernmost part of the park. Meet at Harper’s Meadow. After the cleanup, all volunteers are invited to the Talkin’ Trash Picnic. from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Fort Washington State Park. Super-Mega Volunteer Service Day, celebrating FOW’s 95th anniversary, will take place June 1 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. with volunteer projects in 10 different locations. Service days are open to the public. Boy Scout Troop 3 Open House: Ambler-based Boy Scout Troop 3 will host an open house May 11 from 1 to 3 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church, 708 S. Bethlehem Pike, Ambler. Youths age 11 to 17 can learning about the many adventures Scouting can offer, including hiking, camping, canoeing, friendship and service. Troop meetings are held every Monday at the church.
