Some telescope brands have their serial ports on the mount, while others have it on the hand controller (usually at the bottom, beside the coiled cable's plug). Consult your manual. To avoid damaging the telescope or the SkyFi III, be sure to use ONLY the telescope's serial port when connecting the two.

Abstract: An apparatus comprising a signal generator configured to produce a modulation signal, a filter coupled to the signal generator and configured to filter the modulation signal to produce a cancellation signal, and a reflective semiconductor optical amplifier (RSOA) coupled to the signal generator and the filter, wherein the RSOA is configured to generate an optical signal according to a difference between the modulation signal and the cancellation signal and transmit the optical signal towards a partial reflection mirror (PRM).

“I do no sketches or preparatory design work,” he wrote in a text displayed on the gallery wall. “I simply go into my studio and indulge in ‘adult play,’ sorting through my assortment of exotically shaped pearls, loose semi-precious stones, animal bones, fragments of broken mirror or plastic bicycle reflectors.”

Kicking things off for EVGA is the company’s GeForce GTX 1650 XC Black Gaming card, which uses a single-fan thermal solution. Unlike many single-fan cards, this one is not particularly compact, though its length falls just short of EVGA’s other GTX 1650 cards. (All of EVGA’s GeForce GTX 1650 cards use the same PCB and fall roughly within the same dimensions.) As a result, this card is a couple of inches longer than some competing single-fan solutions from, for example, Gigabyte and PNY. This is also one of the thicker single-fan thermal solutions, as the card’s beefy aluminum heatsink extends the card’s height to the point that it fills almost three slots across. The large heatsink will undoubtedly benefit the GPU’s thermals, but this may not be the best GTX 1650 if you are putting together a compact mini-ITX PC.

When prototyping, I just don’t see that making your own cable or adapter board is going away any time soon. The xkcd is true. Of course it is true :) If you use parts that are working in a certain way, and you want to use them in quite another way, you’ll always end up converting from/to. If you’re not prototyping, but have to deal with real existing products, the design choices that have been made, will vary from engineer to engineer. All kinds of arguments can be made to chose for a certain pin-out or a kind of connector (space, current, requirement, price, convenience etc.) As an engineer I believe you know this. You should always look closely before connecting. Don’t look at the connector, look at the signals. Even then I’ve fried things that didn’t deserve frying, with the typical “huh?” response… I would be baffled to see someone come up with one interface that rules them all, it would be magical.
