I used to be stupid about safety. As a teen-aged co-op student at GMC Truck and Coach in Pontiac, Michigan, I worked on the charging systems of city buses. I was using a test rig that had a carbon-pile load for alternator testing. I had to drill out the terminal on a short 0000-gauge cable so that it would fit the bolt on the carbon pile. The drill press was a few steps away. I put in the 3/8-inch drill bit and held the cable on the work table. As I moved the drill into the soft copper terminal, it dug in, ripping the cable from my hand. The drill press then kept slamming the cable against the drill press post as the whole mess rotated. At least I was smart enough to use a slow speed.

The SkyFi III Wireless Telescope Controller is about the size of a small cellphone, and installing and activating the controller took less than a minute. A built-in Velcro strap allows for mounting on the telescope. To allow you to connect to the telescope, the SkyFi III has a built-in nine-pin D-Sub connector for serial connections and a standard USB-A port. A micro-USB port for charging the internal lithium-ion batteries is also included. The unit should operate for 10 to 12 hours on a charge, depending on the outside temperature. A micro-USB terminated AC adapter is provided, but you can also charge the SkyFi III from a standard powered 5V USB port and cable (not included). The controller's internal rechargeable battery lets you power it up without having to install fresh batteries or use external power cables.

I wasn’t good enough to do this, so I settled on removing each pin from the connector instead. That’s definitely not the ideal way of removing the cable, but it worked for me. If you’re a little more patient and a little more skilled, you could probably do it the way iFixit recommends in their picture guide.

Abstract: Provided is a cassette unit suitable for use with an auto-injector having an electrically powered drive unit. The cassette unit has a housing defining a cassette unit housing cavity and a needle projection aperture. The cassette unit housing cavity is arranged for receipt of a syringe. The syringe has a barrel for containing a volume of a liquid drug formulation, the barrel defining a flange at the rear end thereof and a forward shoulder at the forward end thereof; a hollow needle at a front end of the barrel, the hollow needle defining a needle tip; and a plunger that is axially movable within the barrel. Abstract: A method of preparing an antimicrobial coating comprises coating a surface with an aqueous mixture of 3-(trihydroxysilyl)propyl dimethyloctadecyl ammonium chloride, 3-chloropropyltrimethoxysilane, and triethanolamine and then coating the surface with an aqueous titanyl sol-gel solution comprising an aqueous mixture of peroxotitanium acid and peroxo-modified anatase sol overtop of the silane to form the antimicrobial coating. The antimicrobial coating exhibits residual antimicrobial efficacy against [i]E. coli [/i]and [i]S. epidermidis [/i]after water rinsing or after abrasion. The use of 3-chloropropyltrimethoxysilane was found to improve storage stability of the quaternary silane composition and the durability of the antimicrobial coating.
